David Beckham....The Man, the Myth, the Legend

See this is why you have good contacts. I got to go to the KC Wizards game against the LA Galaxy, featuring David Beckham....HOLY COW!!!! After all of these years, I finally got to see Becks play in person, up close and live. Of course, I had the help of my old boss at the T-Bones get me in behind the scenes as I did when I worked there so I was on the field and all during the game. It was well worth coming back to KC for, let me tell you. Between seeing my 2 favorite athletes play- David Beckham and Ken Griffey Jr, I dont know what else could top that as a sporting moment.

New job....Kansas City Country Club

I began working at KCCC the start of August as part of the Greens and Grounds. I mowed fairways, greens, watered greens, and raked bunkers as part of the golf course management. I learned alot while I was there, more than I had expected. It was really fun to be working in golf and not doing the long hours as in baseball though I had to wake up extra early when the birds start chirping and the dew on the greens. The best part of working there was mowing the fairways on the front 9 one day and going to # 5 and seeing behind me George Brett playing golf with 3 other people...that and mowing greens and having Tom Watson and Andy North playing the front 9. Never thought I'd say this but I wouldnt mind doing golf sometime later on, it was a good experience for me.

Goodbye California, Welcome to Kansas

Me and dad made our journey back to Kansas City from San Bernardino, CA. Since it was July 1, we decided to take the reverse way back from which we came out in January. We went through Las Vegas and onto I-70 through Colorado which went through Vail and close to Aspen. It was a nice trip overall, not so bad weather. We stopped in Utah and then in Colorado before making the boring drive through Western Kansas, which yes I had to drive, ntohing better than driving through Western Kansas in the morning with nothing in sight. But in the end, it was fun and made it back July 3 before my birthday. So adios California for now.

Welcome to the Beach Life

So I had some time to spare before I went back to KC so I decided I needed to go to the beaches for a day. I started out at Laguna Beach, which the water was seaweedy but still really nice area, then I went to Huntington Beach and Balboa Island, then up to Santa Monica. To say the least, I got some sun that day. It was fun overall just to lay around and get out of the city and get in the water and enjoy a relaxing day at the beach with thousands of my closest friends.

Visit at LA Angels Field

My boss and I had gone to visit and meet with the Angels Head Groundskeeper Barney Lopas. It was a dream for me, a walking behind the scenes tour of Angel Stadium and having lunch with one of the best groundskeepers in MLB. I was lucky enough to have some time to talk to Mr. Lopas and ask for advice and all of that good stuff. Probably one of the best moments I had in California. Oh and we got tickets for the game that night, which was against the Royals. I got a ball during batting practice, thrown by Vlad Guerrero as my boss and I gathered in 4 total baseballs during BP since we were along the left field wall.

Manny Being Manny

Manny Ramirez came to the Inland Empire off of his suspension and played at Arrowhead Credit Union Ballpark. It happened to be the games that mom, dad, and grandma were going to since I had gotten all of us tickets for those 2 games. So we got to see Manny before I left California.
